Boscombe LGs Supports Dont Drink & Drown

Boscombe Lifeguards was down at Bournemouth Pier early this morning to spread the word of “Dont Drink & Drown” to several hundred survivors of the Bournemouth University Summer Ball who congregated for a photo on the beach.

The event was held in good spirits and volunteers from Boscombe Lifeguards distributed special branded bottles of water while spreading the word of Water Safety awareness especially after a night out.

A big thank you to all members who turned out to support this event.

Boscombe @ the Southbourne Twilight

The Boscombe Cadets accompanied by several seniors competed at the first of the PBCLSA Summer Twilight Competition Series which took place at Southbourne.

It was great to see so many parents down supporting those competing for the club.

The next competition will be at Branksome Chine on June 20th

Don’t forget Boscombe Lifeguards will be hosting the 3rd Summer Twilight and will be looking for parents to assist in the running.

Boscombe Welcomes New Skis

Boscombe Lifeguards welcomed 2 new Race Skis which have arrived from South Africa. Club Captain Nick and Vice Chair Chris went to collect the Skis from the supplier

The new skis have been bought to replace the aging and less stable Skis to allow the Cadets to train with them to then partake in the Surf Ski tournament being held at Branksome Chine over the summer. Several Cadets have already been training at Branksome in preparation of the competitions.

The club will be launching a competiton to name the new Skis in the coming weeks so keep tuned.

Congratualations to our 2 new club Trainer Assessors !

Over the past weekends Club Instructors Nick and Hamish attended a Beach Lifeguard Trainer Assessors Course held in Poole. The course was a very intensive course covering Delivering Training & Conducting Assessments in Lifeguarding Theory, Lifeguard Practical Skills, Life support and First Aid.

The course took place at the RNLI Training facilities at Poole and at Boscombe Beach where the club hosted the beach element. After over 45hrs training i am pleased to report that they were both signed off as probationary Trainer Assessors.

They will now organise and run a course each and assess an external course after which they will be awarded full Trainer Assessor Status.

A BIG well done to both Nick & Hamish and thank you for them giving up their time to gain these skills to allow them to pass the knowledge, skills and their experiences to a new generation of Club Lifeguards.
