Congratualations to our 2 new club Trainer Assessors !

Over the past weekends Club Instructors Nick and Hamish attended a Beach Lifeguard Trainer Assessors Course held in Poole. The course was a very intensive course covering Delivering Training & Conducting Assessments in Lifeguarding Theory, Lifeguard Practical Skills, Life support and First Aid.

The course took place at the RNLI Training facilities at Poole and at Boscombe Beach where the club hosted the beach element. After over 45hrs training i am pleased to report that they were both signed off as probationary Trainer Assessors.

They will now organise and run a course each and assess an external course after which they will be awarded full Trainer Assessor Status.

A BIG well done to both Nick & Hamish and thank you for them giving up their time to gain these skills to allow them to pass the knowledge, skills and their experiences to a new generation of Club Lifeguards.

Boscombe Lifeguards work with Bournemouth Uni Media Students

Earlier this year a group of 1st Year Media Students from Bournemouth University approached the Boscombe Lifeguards asking if we would be the subject of one of their project videos. The clubs was only to happy to assist and on a Thursday evening in March a group of club members went don’t to the unit to set up for the students to film. Our thanks to Club Captain Nick for volunteering to be interviewed and recount the the rescue performed by a group of members while on a Surf Trip.

Following the editing and presentation the students have sent us the final version which can be viewed HERE

Boscombe Lifeguards Support – Bournemouth March for Men

Members of RLSS Boscombe Lifeguards turned out early this morning to support the March for Men Walk/Run taking place along Bournemouth Seafront. Club members acted as marshals on the 1km route and at the finish funnel.

A Big Thank You to John, Steve OTim and Janet for representing the club at his event.

And Congratulations to all those runners and walkers who completed the course raising money for this worthwhile cause

Over 150,000 men are treated every year at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital for a range of conditions – ‘March for Men’ shines a spotlight on these major men’s health issues and helps to raise important funds to support the treatment of our patients facing these conditions.

All sons, fathers, brothers, uncles, grandfathers – as well as their loved ones – are encouraged to walk, march or run either 1km, 5km or 10km along Bournemouth seafront during this annual event.

Previous marches have enabled the Hospital to purchase extra equipment, such as a da Vinci robot that has helped to treat over 200 patients with prostate cancer to date and an Olympus image management hub used by the Hospital’s Urology Consultants.
